Lake Placid - The Mural Town

I realized it has been far too long since I’ve posted on here. Crazy it’s been 2 years since my last. Time really does have a ways of getting away from you.

This past weekend I visited the town of Lake Placid in Florida. It’s been over 20 years since my last visit there so like my postings here, a trip there was long overdue. While I knew Lake Placid was the Caladium Capital of the World, I had no idea it was also nicknamed the “Town of Murals”. The main downtown is full of buildings with murals painted on them. Several paying tribute to the history of the town, some showing FL culture in general and even some crazy clowns made their way in.

So if you ever find yourself near the small town of Lake Placid, do yourself a favor and make a quick pit stop in to see all the fun murals (and maybe pick yourself up a caladium bulb or two).

Fun fact: 98 percent of the world's caladium bulbs come from Lake Placid
