Lake Placid - The Mural Town

I realized it has been far too long since I’ve posted on here. Crazy it’s been 2 years since my last. Time really does have a ways of getting away from you.

This past weekend I visited the town of Lake Placid in Florida. It’s been over 20 years since my last visit there so like my postings here, a trip there was long overdue. While I knew Lake Placid was the Caladium Capital of the World, I had no idea it was also nicknamed the “Town of Murals”. The main downtown is full of buildings with murals painted on them. Several paying tribute to the history of the town, some showing FL culture in general and even some crazy clowns made their way in.

So if you ever find yourself near the small town of Lake Placid, do yourself a favor and make a quick pit stop in to see all the fun murals (and maybe pick yourself up a caladium bulb or two).

Fun fact: 98 percent of the world's caladium bulbs come from Lake Placid

Happy 2015.....

Happy New Year Everyone!!! Here's to a great 2015!!!

Idina Menzel signing autographs after If/Then....

Just a quick post to show a pic I snapped of Idina Menzel signing autographs after If/Then outside the Richard Rodgers Theatre.  Pretty cool the entire main cast comes out after the show to sign autographs and take pictures with their fans.  I got to meet all of them and I must say they were all super nice.  Idina wasn't feeling good this night but she still made the effort to come out and sign autographs.  Shows how much she values and loves her fans!  It was amazing seeing Idina in If/Then for the second time and then getting my playbill signed by her and the rest of the cast :D

Tim McGraw up close & personal....

I had the privilege of attending a private Tim McGraw concert (only open to those attending a conference here in Orlando) and I was in the VIP section.  It had been years since I had seen Tim in concert so I was looking forward to it.  Tim definitely did not disappoint.  Even though this wasn't one of his "normal" concerts, he still put on an amazing show.  I must stay I was quite impressed at how brave he was to venture out into the crowd several times.  His security had to be flipping out lol! I was lucky enough to encounter one of these ventures out into the crowd and get super close to him. Yes I did get to touch him in case you were wondering lol!  Snapped the picture below as he was making his way towards where I was and getting swarmed in the process. Needless to say he didn't make it far into the crowd.  Such a great night with great friends and tons of new memories made.

Jennifer Nettles in NYC....

I've been slacking on my posts here lately so here's a quick one from when I saw Jennifer Nettles in NYC back in March.  I was pretty upset I was missing ALL of JNett's Florida dates because I was going to be out of town for work when all of a sudden a date popped up in NYC when I was going to be there.  The timing couldn't have been more perfect....it's like she could sense how pissed I was so she added an NYC date lol!!  Anyway since I was there for work, I was going at it alone for this concert.  This didn't bother me one bit and since I was going alone I knew I had to go the VIP route.  I scored big time and ended up front row for this show at the beautiful Beacon Theatre.  What an amazing concert it was. I made new friends and had a blast belting out the songs from the front row. Nettles and I had a few moments during the show especially during Something More lol!  At the end of this show as she was waving her goodbye to everyone she stayed back on the stage rather than signing autographs and giving high fives like she did in Atlanta.  I of course did not let this deter me from trying to get an autograph. As she came to my side of the stage I made eye contact with her and held up my sharpie and ticket.  She saw me, smiled, walked over an signed it for me. Some other girl shoved herself in right by me to get an autograph as well but other than the 2 of us she didn't sign anything else for people even though they were trying their hardest.  Must say that made me feel pretty special :)  Some pics below of the amazing night!

Jennifer Nettles in Atlanta....

Made the looooooooong road trip trek from Orlando to Atlanta to see JNett perform at the Fox Theatre on her first solo tour.....the That Girl Tour.  I knew it would be well worth the 7 hour drive and I was not disappointed.  She really is AMAZING!! I know I have said it over and over again to people but it's the truth.  She is such a genuine person that can sing her ass off.  Had so much fun on this trip even if it was a short one.  Tammy, my Nettles/Sugarland BFF, and I always come back with some entertaining stories when we venture to see JNett lol!  Must say I was pretty excited Jennifer used the picture that I tweeted & instagramed her in her post (pic below mine is the bottom left).
JNett tweeted out and instagramed my pic :)
